Aerospace & Avionics

This industry faces specific problems related to ROHS exemption, harsh environments, vibration and obsolescence. Find out how Retronix can help.

avionique

The aerospace industry is technically complex, and its products push the limits of technology.

Many aerospace systems rely on electronic parts that are no longer produced by the original manufacturer or sold by its authorized distributors. This dependence is partly due to the long life cycles of these systems.

An electronic part may be manufactured for two years, but many aerospace systems that use these parts may be in service for more than twenty years. These high-reliability industries are critically dependent on technology that obsoletes itself every few years (or faster), is manufactured in insecure locations and has no influence on market share.

To source rare parts, buyers in the avionics and aerospace sectors often turn to independent distributors or brokers. The risk of acquiring defective or counterfeit components is therefore high.

Retronix ‘s test lab detects counterfeits and defective parts and prevents their acquisition. When we recover devices from genuine PCBs, safe, reliable and tested ICs can be purchased instead of taking the risk associated with non-franchised brokers. All the ICs we buy have been properly processed, have no tin problems and are functional.

Retronix Europe has a number of solutions to help your company, but can also offer customized services.

Problem
Thermal expansion

The avionics and aerospace industries place high demands on their components, as they are subjected to extreme atmospheric conditions. Vibration, shock, rapid temperature variations and pressure are just some of the elements to which assemblies are subjected. This leads to early failures, short circuits and ruptures in solder joints, which can be catastrophic for such critical applications. ;

Retronix has worked with leading aerospace organizations to design a solution that reduces cycles to failure by a factor of more than ten.

Problem
Thermal expansion

Many high-reliability systems rely on electronic parts that are no longer produced by the original manufacturer or sold by its authorized distributors.

This confidence is based in part on the long life cycles of these systems. So, if a component is no longer available from normal sources, what are the options? Many high-reliability components are used on multiple systems, and can therefore sometimes be found on unused, but obsolete, printed circuit boards at the system manufacturer itself.

These components are known and have had zero hours of use, so their recovery is often a better option than buying supposedly “brand new” components on the grey market Retronix uses a unique component recovery process that avoids re-melting cycles.

Retronix plays a role in the circular economy

A circular economy is vital if we are to transform the impact of the electronics industry on human health, the environment and biodiversity. It is essentially based on the principles of eliminating waste and pollution, conserving products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems.

With obsolescence and allocation problems prevalent in the marketplace, the likelihood of counterfeit devices entering supply chains is high.
